AFD Vocal & Performance Coaching provides one to one private singing lessons for young performers age 3+. Lessons take place at my home in South Shields where I have a dedicated teaching space which is an ideal relaxed environment for children to learn effectively. Students are given the opportunity to enter LCM singing exams throughout the year. LCM examination sessions take place in the spring, summer and winter. I currently facilitate Popular Music Vocals, Music Theatre and Early Learning Music syllabi.

AFD has a 100% pass rate with most students gaining distinctions.  Although examinations are a great tool for young performers to have, I also encourage students to take part in as many performance opportunities (amateur and professional) as possible in order to gain an authentic and hands on experience. Some students enjoy taking part in vocal competitions and many students have gained 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in face to face and online competitions  however, I must stress that I only encourage taking part in vocal competitions and festivals as a recreational fun activity and to use them as a performance opportunity rather than the focus being on winning medals, fancy costumes and make up.

The main focus of AFD Vocal & Performance Coaching is to prepare young performers for the real performing arts industry and to offer a solid training in vocal studies alongside offering students with plenty of performance opportunities, qualifications and industry knowledge.

Amy Frances Duggan

Vocal Coach

I have been teaching singing, voice and performance for just over 7 years at various theatre schools. I decided to open AFD Vocal & Performance Coaching in July 2019 after having many students already taking one to one private lessons with myself. My training began at the age of 3 where I attended dancing, singing and acting classes. I then went on to perform in Billy Elliot The Musical as Debbie Wilkinson at The Victoria Palace Theatre in London. After my time performing in Billy Elliot The Musical, I was offered a full scholarship at a full time theatre school in London where I continued to study the arts and attained various other professional credits.

As I grew older, I developed a flair and passion for music and I gained a place at The BRIT School for post 16 study. After graduating The BRIT School, I went on to study a professional performance degree at a drama school in London and also gained an LCM teaching qualification. After my drama school training, I completed my studies at the University of Sunderland. I am 25 years old and have spent most of time in London either performing or training. I have a huge passion for moulding and teaching young performers and I take pride in my student’s achievements.
